Symbols & Shapes
Symbols play a large role in art and language. They help the viewer interpret information and build a relationship so a story can be told. By making a connection with these fundamental shapes a rhythm and movement can be interpreted as a whole. After taking this initial step more details become relevant and meaning can be extracted. As the layers, textures and colors begin to evolve they build a more personal relationship. Taking these steps hopefully leads one to a deeper understanding of themselves, maybe even questioning something within.
These shapes not only create symbols and meaning they also help to establish form, structure and movement. The square and circle in their simplest form create the basic structural elements. However, on a larger scale these objects can be identified as a window and movement. Used together they form a transition, growing and establishing a mark. Ultimately trying to create a balance and rhythm.
Through life we experience relationships at different levels, each leading to a different fundamental understanding of ourselves. As we transition through these relationships we place value upon what is important and what is not. In the end trying to find a balance to the ever evolving process of life.
